I am a Sussex based writer, material culture researcher and lecturer in the field of fashion studies. My work looks at the embodied, emotional experience of the clothing we own, wear, and experience and how clothing can be used as/for expressive meaning. I use film and writing in my research, which looks at the relationship between clothing and love, specifically clothing narratives and storytelling; clothing, feelings and time; clothing in the context of womanhood and ageing; and clothing and grief.
I have a PhD in Fashion from Northumbria University, School of Design where I was AHRC-funded as a Northern Bridge recipient. I am currently an Associate Lecturer in the Cultural and Historical Studies department at London College of Fashion. I have held posts at University for the Creative Arts (Rochester) and City St George’s, University of London. I have published work in the International Journal of Fashion Studies, Bloomsbury Fashion Video Archive and Warehouse Review and have a chapter forthcoming in Rosie Findlay’s Dressays (Bloomsbury, 2026).
Originally from Toronto, I have lived in the UK since 2016, where I completed an MA in Fashion Cultures with distinction at London College of Fashion in 2020. Please contact me for a copy of my MA thesis, Stories Clothes Tell and/or my PhD Dissertation, Love-Clothes: Ageing, Womanhood and Feelings in UK Wardrobes.
